New Wireless Digital Thermometers
Some may remember (if you think way back) our original Wireless Digital Thermometers. They were a great addition at the time, but times have changed, and so has tech!
Way back then we were the first to offer a wireless thermometer option for our distillers. They offered you the ability to watch the temperature of your still without having to be right in front of it the entire time. While you never want to leave an operating distiller unattended, you had the ability to be doing other things in the same area, where you could keep an eye on your distiller, but not be concerned about temperature changes sneaking past you. This was a big improvement to the process as it freed you to also do other things. The only downside was the battery consumption. These units required alkaline batteries (ie. non-rechargeable), as they needed the full 1.5V that was not, at that time, available in a rechargeable battery. These thermometers were also power hungry, so it did not take long before the battery voltage would drop and the thermometer would not function properly. Due to these issues we stopped offering the wireless digital thermometers.
Enter 2024, and tech has advanced in so many areas, including (especially) wireless devices. Long gone are the days of wireless devices needing substantial power, or having extremely limited range. So, we decided to re-entertain the idea of wireless thermometers for our stills. What we found was such a vast improvement on the old wireless thermometers that we were left wondering why we waited quite so long to consider them.
The new wireless thermometers now use a rechargeable probe that will hold a charge through the entire distilling process, and then simply recharge quickly when placed back into its base. This works well because the probe can be used with either a bung/stopper in the top of your column, or, depending on your distillers, you may be able to use an end cap with a special silicone grommet. The new units also have multiple options for watching the temperature. The base is small enough to be carried with you, or you can use the magnetic back to hang it onto something convenient. But, the biggest advantage is the app for your phone (Android or iPhone) that also keeps you updated on the temperature. You can even set an alarm temperature, so you will not miss a change in temperature.
These new wireless thermometers are a great option for your distillers, and for many other uses, as well. These new thermometers are well priced at $59.95. Find them on our website at brewhaus.com
