Yeah ...not impressed. But will try.. Found the included silicone glue left the joints loose and moveable, despite a healthy coating. Cleaned off the silicone and sanded all connections with #600 sand paper. Re-joined them with Oatey PVC cement. Completely solid and water tight now. Hopefully, the cement won't be overbearing. It IS a filter, though.

UPDATE 2-12-2016: The Oatey PVC cement solved all issues. Absolutely no affect on flavor. No leaks, either. I figure for just getting started in this hobby I could've spent a fortune on all top-of-the-line stuff. But as it is, this works fine now as just as I have described.

Not so good. This filter came with the still that I bought, followed instructions and when I went to use it it leaked badly. The only good thing was that I tested it with water. Other than this filter and thermometer everything else is absolutely fantastic!!!

filter system leakage. Try making an oatmeal paste as a sealant. I use a coffee grinder to make oatmeal powder, then wet till a paste. Apply as you would pvc cement.

junk - move along. The stills & yeast are great, but their reputation tarnished by cheap garbage accessories like this worthless plastic filter system. They cut the tubing to make it easier to ship, which then makes it into a leaky piece of trash. Don't waste one penny on this item.

I agree with Phil. Yea, your company is really, really good, I mentioned that to you in an email. This filter though leaked in both joints the first time. I'm a novice at distilling but not working with PVC piping etc.. I was generous with the sealant because the couplers were loose, not sure why it leaked except the possible pressure of the weight of the charcoal and the liquid... I'm going to find something else. Keep up the great service... I've been buying from you guys like crazy the last couple of months.. wife hasn't seen the bank statement online yet... so far, so good.

filter or junk. ive been nothing but pleased with all ur products. i love my steel 11 on a 10 scale. but this filter unit is a joke worth about 2 cents. sloppy fittings with rtv silicone. im not going to use it still smells like silicone 1 week later. my alcohol isnt going throught it.. going in the trash waste of 27.00 dollars.

It works.... ...just fine but make d***ed sure it's secured. When in use it weighs more than you'd expect. Mine came loose and I had alcohol saturated carbon all over.
