The Essential Extractor Pro Series II Moonshine Still Column can be used as either a pot distillation column or as a reflux distillation column, incorporating our Pro Series cooling system and a 2-piece column for great versatility.

The two piece column- another Brewhaus innovation- allows the top portion of the column to attach directly to the kettle, giving you a true Pot Distillation column without having to purchase another column separately. The Essential Extractor Pro Series II Moonshine Still Column also becomes a full-length distillation column that is more than 3' long when fully assembled, which allows for true reflux operation and results in a cleaner, more pure distillate. In addition to being used as a moonshine still with copper mesh for column packing, the PSII is also perfect for distilling water or essential oils with ceramic raschig rings for column packing.

About the Pro Series' Cooling System:
By placing the cooling lines near the top of the distillation column, reflux is created where it is intended- at the top of the tower. This allows for the most effective use of the column filling by causing the refluxed liquid to flow down through it, resulting in a cleaner distillate. Crossing the cooling lines instead of leaving them parallel results in a much more efficient cooling system, requiring less cooling water while maintaining effectiveness. And, by having the cooling system in direct contact with the rising vapor you achieve a far more efficient and effective cooling than systems that surround a column with a cooling water jacket. The slow heat transfer rate through the thick column wall is much less efficient, and concentrates all of the cooling ability around the outside of the distiller column. The result of jacketed columns is liquid channeling down the walls of the column, while not cooling the majority of the vapor as it is not in contact with the column wall. While such a system may operate faster, it is at the expense of quality. Learn more about the design of this forced reflux still here.

    Awesome piece of equipment!

I purchased the Essential Extractor PSII Column and use it with a 15.5 gallon keg. The hookup clamp makes connection to the keg very easy. No welding etc, just clamp the column to the keg lip after removing the keg ball and column inside. Steel is very high quality and all welds are extremely smooth. A true piece of work. You can release the center clamp and use just the top section as a pot still or use the entire 3 foot section for reflux distillation. Easily add rings through the top, place a copper scrubber at the top under the cooling tubes, and you are at a minimum 85-90% product. Forget all the money for piecing a column together! Buy this column and place on a Sanke keg or pony keg and have a professional level machine. Cooling tubes take 1/2 inch inside diameter vinyl tubing for cooling water runs. Brewhaus has a winner and a very very high quality, reliable, and high output product with this one!
