Cheers to Freedom: Celebrating National Repeal Day with Brewhaus
Every December 5th, we honor one of the most important milestones in American spirits history: National Repeal Day, the day the Twenty-first Amendment ended Prohibition in 1933. That single amendment restored the legal right to make, sell, and enjoy alcohol—and paved the way for modern brewing and distilling culture as we know it.
For distillers and hobbyists, Repeal Day isn’t just a date on the calendar. It represents the freedom to create, innovate, and share great spirits openly—a freedom at the core of what we do at Brewhaus.
Why Repeal Day Still Matters
Prohibition lasted 13 long years, forcing distilling underground and crippling legitimate breweries and distilleries nationwide. When the ban was finally lifted, it didn’t just bring alcohol back into the open—it revitalized craftsmanship, creativity, and community.
Today, every polished stainless steel still, every carefully controlled run, and every batch you produce reflects the possibilities Repeal Day restored.
How to Celebrate Repeal Day (Brewhaus-Style)
✔ Raise a Glass
Pour something classic or homemade (legally and responsibly!) and toast to the freedom that made it possible.
✔ Fire Up Your Still
If it’s legal in your area, run a small batch, experiment with a new mash bill, or simply enjoy the satisfaction of hands-on craft distilling.
✔ Level Up Your Knowledge
Read, experiment, refine. Distilling is a journey—and Repeal Day is the perfect moment to plan your next step.
A Quick Reminder
While we celebrate the end of Prohibition, distillation laws still vary by region. Always check local and federal regulations before producing alcohol, and operate all equipment safely and responsibly.

Iv been reading on the hobby distilling and what I see is it’s legal in Texas now
Unfortunately, it is not legal in Texas. While the bill had great support, it did not get through all the steps in time, so it did not pass. We will be trying again after the next election.
