DonFeb 13, 2016, 12:00 AMYeah ...not impressed. But will try.. Found the included silicone glue left the joints loose and moveable, despite a healthy coating. Cleaned off the silicone and sanded all connections with #600 sand paper. Re-joined them with Oatey PVC cement. Completely solid and water tight now. Hopefully, the cement won't be overbearing. It IS a filter, though.
UPDATE 2-12-2016: The Oatey PVC cement solved all issues. Absolutely no affect on flavor. No leaks, either. I figure for just getting started in this hobby I could've spent a fortune on all top-of-the-line stuff. But as it is, this works fine now as just as I have described. -

jacobJan 30, 2014, 12:00 AMNot so good. This filter came with the still that I bought, followed instructions and when I went to use it it leaked badly. The only good thing was that I tested it with water. Other than this filter and thermometer everything else is absolutely fantastic!!!

DamonJul 6, 2013, 12:00 AMfilter system leakage. Try making an oatmeal paste as a sealant. I use a coffee grinder to make oatmeal powder, then wet till a paste. Apply as you would pvc cement.

htperryMar 7, 2012, 12:00 AMjunk - move along. The stills & yeast are great, but their reputation tarnished by cheap garbage accessories like this worthless plastic filter system. They cut the tubing to make it easier to ship, which then makes it into a leaky piece of trash. Don't waste one penny on this item.
