Making Pure Corn Whiskey by Ian Smiley contains everything you would ever want to know about the small-scale production of whiskey. It provides you with information on how to make a high-separation fractionating still, how to ''make the cut'' (that elusive skill that makes the difference between making real whiskey and just flavoring alcohol), and more. The processes covered in Making Pure Corn Whiskey are also used to make rum, brandy, and schnapps.

Making Pure Corn Whiskey covers the following topics:

  • History of corn whisky
  • Equipment and methods for every step from fermentation through distillation
  • Ingredients
  • Recipes
  • And more!

I have only read 5 chapters so far, but it seems to be historically accurate and even insightful.. everything that it promised. I can't wait for the chapter on temperature corrections for hydrometers!

A Must have Reference . SmileyТs book is a Уmust haveФ reference text for any hobby distillerТs library. The step by step walk through is rock sold Ц no dross, no BS Ц well written. It is a great read and helped me a lot. I do not recommend a lot but I strongly recommend this text if you are interested in the subject.
