Band heaters are a more efficient heating method than electric hotplates. They also reduce the risk of scorching by lowering the heat density and moving the heat from the bottom of the kettle, where particles will settle, to the sides of the kettle. The weight of a complete moonshine still is not an issue when using a band heater, unlike a hotplate, which can be crushed under the weight of a full kettle.

These band heaters are specifically made to fit Brewhaus 8 gallon and 15 gallon premium kettles. Because they wrap around the kettle, the diameter of the kettle must match the band heater precisely. We cannot guarantee that our band heaters will fit any type of kettle other than Brewhaus kettles.

Note: Band heaters are electric heating elements, and they will short out if you get them wet.

Features:

  • Made of stainless steel, matching the finish on your kettle
  • 110V
  • 1500W
  • 13.98" x 2.36" (355mm x 60mm)
  • Lower risk of scorching than an internal heating element

Recommendations:

  • Always place your kettle on a heat tolerant surface when heating.
  • 2" distillation column requires one band heater regardless of whether you are using an 8-gallon or 15-gallon kettle.
  • 3" column with an 8 gallon kettle requires one band heater. A 3" column with a 15 gallon kettle may require 2 band heaters to bring it to a boil and then cut to one band heater during distillation.
  • 4" column with a 15-gallon kettle may require 2 or 3 band heaters, depending on additional factors.

I’ve had three of these on my 15 gallon still for about 18 months now & Im on batch #35. I love them!! I use all three on initial heat up, then I use the bottom heater band only that I run on a voltage regulator at about 100 V. I insulate my still column heavily. I purchased these two as backup, in case of a burnout. No chance of scorching anything with these heat bands.

This thing is dangerous. Major short in wiring. Unable to repair, no access to wire terminals.

I have used the band heater several times with the only issue being the plug and cord got warm when heating up. This time the cord started sparking at the connection to the band. It blew the breaker and now does not work at all. Nice concept but the cord, plug, and connection need to be better built.

Band Heater. Worked for 3 runs before plastic plug melted replaced plug with new quality metal plug. Got an additional 2 runs out of the heater before it completely stopped working.

Poor craftsmanship. I have had 2 of these the last one only lasted 3 runs on my still. The tightening method needs to be re-engineered. I'm very displeased with these heating bands.
