use with care. looks nice but thats the only good thing I can say about it. Use it much and odds are you will break it when the weighted end of your Alcoholmeter contacts the bottom.

Good but pretty fragile. As advertised but even for glass pretty fragile. My alcoholmeter bumped the bottom at what seems a slight bump and it cracked the test cylinder. Not sure if there is another that has thicker glass.

Very fragile. I agree with the above. Just broke my second one. Ordering the plastic cylinder now. I am very careful with my lab glass and not surprised that these broke as they are very fragile. Too bad since glass is the best thing to use.

not a proper cylinder. This is not a proper graduated chemistry cylinder. It is a short, thin glass tube with a bottom in a cheap plastic base. Buy the plastic graduated cylinder or go elsewhere for a proper 250ml glass cylinder. Not worth the postage.

Defective product. The bottom is about 1/10th the thickness of the side wall. I had to throw out a batch of product because I couldn’t find the little 1/8" diameter piece of glass that broke out of the bottom. Everything else from Brewhaus has been great. They should find another supplier for this product.

Recommend. Not sure why the bad ratings. Seems to be a solid unit. As with anything, if you don’t use it correctly, your likely to break it.

Third batch, hydrometer tip cracked the bottom.. Actuslly, it punched out the entire bottom as it slid down the side of the glass. Really don;t think it should be this fragile. Also, the green base did not firmly grasp the vial so it would tilt to one side and was unstable with fluid in it. Not a quality product.

Too fragile. I like to use glass whenever possible, but I'm going to order the plastic cylinder next. I had the same problem as others, just a slight tap with the alcoholmeter and the bottom punched right out. Plastic base did not hold the base very securely. Not like I'm out a lot of money, but now I'm dead in the water till I can order a replacement.

Test Cyliinder – Glass – 13″. I gave it a 3 because it functions as advertised. However there are 2 issues that I don’t like: 1) The glass cylinder does not fit all the way down to the bottom of the base – it works but I think it might be more stable if the base fit the glass better; 2) the inside diameter of the glass is 1 5/16″. The plastic one I have in 13/4″ and that extra 1/2″ makes it a lot easier to pore liquid out of a quart jar and there is a tendency to spill shine out of the smaller cylinder. Just saying…..

Hydrometer tube. I use these tubes and I’d like to address the 3 main complaints I’ve read in the reviews. The number one issue is fragility. It’s true, they break easily and I’ve broken 3 this year. I don’t care, I like the thin glass. I like to test my samples at the recommended 60 degrees and I use hot or cold water (usually cold) to adjust the temperature of the sample in the tube. The thin glass allows a quick exchange of heat. When testing 180 proof spirits I will only use glass, never plastic. Secondly, the plastic base could fit better but it is sufficient. I heat and cool the sample in a 1/2 gal plastic milk jug with the opening slightly enlarged. I like that I can remove the base so it will fit in. The one piece glass tubes with permanent glass base are too wide to fit in a small opening. Lastly, I don’t want the tube any wider because that ends up wasting too much wash. Despite its drawbacks, this is the tube I prefer.
