Making Pure Corn Whiskey by Ian Smiley contains everything you would ever want to know about the small-scale production of whiskey. The processes covered in Making Pure Corn Whiskey are also used to make rum, brandy, and schnapps.
Making Pure Corn Whiskey covers the following topics:
- History of corn whisky
- Equipment and methods for every step from fermentation through distillation

A Must have Reference . SmileyТs book is a Уmust haveФ reference text for any hobby distillerТs library. The step by step walk through is rock sold Ц no dross, no BS Ц well written. It is a great read and helped me a lot. I do not recommend a lot but I strongly recommend this text if you are interested in the subject.

I have only read 5 chapters so far, but it seems to be historically accurate and even insightful.. everything that it promised. I can’t wait for the chapter on temperature corrections for hydrometers!
