These specially formulated carbon rods feature a smaller diameter, making them ideal for Z-Filters and other vertical filtration systems where lighter carbon media is required to remain evenly suspended during operation. Manufactured from high-quality extruded and reformed activated carbon, they provide a uniform pore structure that effectively removes unwanted compounds affecting the aroma and flavor of distilled spirits. Ideal for polishing high-purity reflux spirits before flavoring or aging.
Usage:
Use 0.6-0.9 oz per quart of diluted spirit. Always ensure the spirit is below 110 proof (55% ABV) before carbon treatment, as higher alcohol strengths can reduce the effectiveness of the carbon. For best results, maintain a steady flow rate and ensure full contact with the carbon throughout the filtration process.
