This recipe uses a traditional corn-forward bourbon mash bill with a higher rye content for added spice and complexity, supported by malted barley for depth and a small amount of wheat to round the finish. The result is a smooth but flavorful grain mash for distilling designed to produce layered caramel, vanilla, and toasted grain notes after oak aging.
Flaked grains allow easy starch conversion without cooking, while professional alpha-amylase enzymes ensure reliable performance and high yield. The included distillers yeast with gluco-amylase enzymes helps the mash ferment cleanly to approximately 9–10% ABV before distillation.
Rice hulls are included to improve mash consistency and prevent clumping, making this whiskey mash kit ideal for fermenting and distilling on the grain.
