Rick’s Picks™ Tennessee Style Whiskey Mash Kit – Charcoal Mellowed Grain Kit
Make a smooth, charcoal-mellowed style whiskey at home with the Rick’s Picks™ Tennessee Style Whiskey Mash Kit, a premium whiskey mash kit designed to produce a clean, well-balanced spirit suitable for charcoal filtering and oak aging.
This mash bill uses a corn-forward recipe with balanced secondary grains to create a whiskey that is rich but smooth. Flaked grains allow easy mashing, while professional enzymes ensure consistent conversion and fermentation.
Distillers yeast with gluco-amylase enzymes helps the mash ferment efficiently to about 9–10% ABV, and rice hulls improve mash handling for fermenting on the grain. This makes it a very approachable home distilling mash kit.
This kit is ideal for distillers who want to experiment with charcoal filtering before aging.
Batch Size & Volume
This recipe uses 9–9.5 gallons of water with a 19 lb grain bill.
Total mash volume with grain is approximately 10.5–11 gallons.
If the grain is removed before fermentation or distillation, the remaining liquid will be approximately 7 gallons.
For best results, we recommend fermenting on the grain.
When fermented properly, the wash will typically reach approximately 9–10% ABV before distillation.
